Lately God has been teaching me lessons of life...
Perfection. Something that I struggle with too often. I worry about being perfect in every detail and what others think. Today was no different. I had written a note in my middle son's folder that I was available to help in any way for his class Halloween party. So, when I received the phone call to bake cupcakes; I was happy to oblige. Cupcakes. Perfect!

I had written a note in my middle son's folder that I was available to help in any way for his class Halloween party. So, when I received the phone call to bake cupcakes; I was happy to oblige. Cupcakes. Perfect!
Or not so perfect! As you can see from the picture my cupcakes came out deformed. What happened to my cupcakes you ask? I didn't have a cupcake pan. It apparently disappeared during the move. I debated on rather or not I should even take them. I had extra time. I could still stop by the store and purchase some, or I could tell them my husband baked them…haha. That seriously crossed my mind.
So I made my drive to town. God whispering in my ear the entire time. I knew what I had to do. I had to drop my pride and take those cupcakes to my son's class. I entered the school with my cupcakes sitting awkwardly on a pizza pan. Yes, I know. Don't pity me. I just kept my head held high as I passed the mom with the fancy cupcake container with the pretty, perfected cupcakes.
I entered my son's class and no one was in there. This was my chance to leave them on the table and run…but I didn't. I placed them on the teacher's desk and went across the hall to let her know I had dropped them off. I explained to her what had happened and told her she could tell the kids that they are spooky cupcakes. She was so sweet and said the kids will love them.
My cupcakes look pitiful, but it's the taste that matters. Right? God used these cupcakes to remind me "man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7. I don't have to be perfect in all I do. God just wants me to have a willing spirit to serve others in His love.
